Always get permission before shooting in a private location or on copyrighted material. Asking permission not only ensures that your work is safe but also demonstrates your respect for others.

I selected the backyard of my house for my photo shoot. Even though I live in my own house, the entire apartment complex shares the backyard, so I had to get permission to shoot there. I verbally asked the receptionist in the office if I may shoot in our backyard. I was approved.


One of my backup shoots will take place in the city center. I don't require permission because downtown is a public area.
