Masthead Design

A magazine's masthead is its name; it stands for both the magazine and the company overall. The design is crucial because it establishes the tone or concept for the whole magazine.


In one of my earlier blogposts, I went into great detail regarding my masthead and its designs. For my own magazine I lean towards using a San Serif font, since it looks more simple and affable. The name of my magazine will be 'Sweet', therefore Sans Serif would look better.


I have already researched the possible fonts that I will be using, and I chose the final one from those:

I was also researching and looking at the fonts already included in Photoshop, and I found some more appealing fonts to me. I decided to switch my preference, but these fonts were still very similar to my original idea:



I decided to go with San Serif font called 'Acumin Variable Concept'. Here is how it will most likely to look like on my final magazine cover:


The original font with default setting did not very satisfied me with the way it looked, therefore I have changed some setting:
